w/ "Weather Talk" actor-photographer-filmmaker Brandon Shyptowski

Dennis meets actor-photographer Brandon Shyptowski at a North Hollywood tea house they both love Tea Pop do discuss Brandon's online photo series "Weather Talk," dedicated to LGBTQ people and their relationships to their fathers. Brandon explains how to project got its title, recalls the long-distance road trip he did with his father that inspired the project and lays out his plans to make it into a short film of the same name. Brandon also discusses the year he spent studying in Tokyo and the following year when he backpacked through Cambodia, Thailand and India. As a die-hard Coyote Ugly fan, Dennis can't get enough of Brandon's stories about working at the West Hollywood gay club Flaming Saddles and clogging on the bar. While in Berlin, Germany, Dennis crashes on the couch of his old friend, entertainment journalist Kastern Kastelan who Dennis met in the mid-90's when they would both cover international film junkets. Karsten talks about being born with a catchy byline-ready name, his preference for writing in English over German, what he misses about living in Los Angeles, the traits that are typical of Germans, like being on time, for example, and what it's like to live in a city that has been through so many traumatic events. Karsten also talks about being a juror at film festivals all over the world and recalls his past encounters with such celebrities as Gregory Peck, Billy Wilder, Wolfgang Peterson, George Clooney, Michael Madsen, Heather Graham and Russ Meyer.
